Now that you are an Open Water Diver, you are quickly learning that your certification was less of a destination than a beginning to your dive education. It's time to expand your horizons and become a more profficient and safer diver.

Why become an Advanced Open Water Diver?

As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, you learned what it took to start out in Scuba diving and operate as a safe diver. Now it's time to become a better diver. While you learned a lot with your Open Water certification, we always have more to learn. With your PADI Advanced Open Water certification, you will pick five specialties to study and will become more efficient with your bouyancy and underwater skills.

What will I do?
You will concentrate on five (5) functional areas of diving during your Advanced Open Water Diver course. The Ocean Planet Scuba Dive Center usually selects the following specialties for concentration but can adjust the topics if so desired by the student:

Deep Diving: The student will experience the effects of diving deeper than 100 fsw (feet of salt water) and will perform several simple skills at depth to appreciate the effects of Narcosis on their concentration level.

Search & Recovery: You will learn how to execute a search pattern and recover objects from the ocean floor.

Navigation: You will hone your navigation skills by honing your compass skills and your ability to navigate with natural landmarks under the water.

Night Diving: Night dives are a new wonderful world in diving. You will learn about the equipment and skills needed to become an accomplished night diver.

Boat Diver: Your dives will be performed on a dive boat and throughout the process, you will learn more about how to become an efficient and effective boat diver.

How long will it take?
This certification consists of two days at the lake with briefings in between each dive.

What will I need?

PADI Advanced Open Water Crew-Pak

How does the AZ Dive Training approach differ from other dive centers?

AZ Dive Training takes the student beyond the average Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Instead of running you through the motions and certifying you as an advanced diver, he works your bouyancy, teaches you how to deploy lift bags to recover objects and works your air management skills. When he is done, not only are you certified as an advanced diver, you ARE an advanced diver.

Where can I go from here?
Once you have your Advanced Open Water Diver certification, you can begin on your specialties in SCUBA diving. These specialties help you to master multiple aspects of diving. You can also get started on your Rescue Diver training and cintinue on the PADI Dive Education Roadmap.
